I built the first pen today out of the new box elder in between milling sessions.

I ran into an ugly wormhole on the pen, and decided to build a tutorial about how I deal with the nasty things, at least when they look funky. The tutorial lives on my blog page here:

Getting some great blanks, pens, peppermills, bottlestoppers, bowls, etc. from the wood, and I'll be posting to the various forums for those that wanted to get their hands on some.

That is a nice tutorial.

I agree with you that the CA build-up on bushings can be a problem. My solution is to just keep a small mayonaise jar on the bench, with an inch or so of acetone in the jar. I make a practice of dropping the whole set of bushings in the jar and swirling them around for a while. After an hour or so the CA has dissolved. I just keep using the acetone till it's all dissolved. I scoop the bushings out and wash them with soap and water and dry by papertowel before putting therm away.
