Wood Question

I have a buddy who has some apple tree wood that has been drying for 4 or 5 years and offered me some. My question is how is it to turn? anything special I need to do before turning it.

Apple turns great, nice and hard unless spalted, then it may need some CA.

Most fruit-woods are very nice to turn and quite pretty. Apple turns well without any special precautions and makes a very attractive pen.
