I'd also say cocobolo but it'll be hard to say for sure with that picture.

I'll make some close ups. This blank was in a grab bag from Woodcraft that I purchased last Spring.

If from a Woodcraft grab bag, it might be kingwood - kingwood would have a bit more of a reddish cast to it than cocobolo

I am with everyone else. Could be Cocobolo, East Indian Rosewood, Kingwood or maybe even Ziricote. How did it cut? Was it dust or curls? How did it smell?

Here are some closer pictures of the blank to better . Also, I have taken picture of another wood blank from the same bag that you might can identify. The wood grain as you can see is very close together. Thanks for the help.

The first on looks like "KING" wood.....not indrian rosw wood like i thought

As I turned the wood it was curls, not dust and really did not notice any different smell other than just wood smell. That was the case on both pieces of wood.

Morado (Bolivian Rosewood) came to mind for me as well. I have some that looks exactly like that.

The OP looks to be a rosewood. Whether Kingwood or Morado, I can't tell. The second blank looks to be Coco, but I can't be certain.

More variety: 2 photos in post #11 look like Bubinga.
