Wood ID help

Someone wanted a pen with the wood pictured in this pen kit, any ideas what it could be? I was thinking elm or maple burl, but I don't want to do too much guessing around!! Thank you so much!

I did call woodcraft, and the guy was very helpful but was just guessing around at what it could be. I called product support, should I call a different number?

Seeing it comes from Wood Craft, I would say it is one of the new blanks they started selling. Acer macrophyllum or Maple Burl # 104-942 in the 2013 Spring and summer catalog page 141. Jim S

could be non-dyed BEB also, it's in the maple family.

Big leaf maple burl. I have a lot of this material from the Northwest and it is exactly the same.
