Try to find a guitar repairman, or luthier. Many of them buy the large sheets, and cut the pickguards out of them. There will be some small, strangely shaped waste sections. These will work for pen turning. I used to have a large pile in my basement, but I gave it away to a box maker just before I started turning pens. I haven;t had a guitar or bass order in over a year now, so I sm out of it. I just got an order for a bass, so I will cut my own pickguard for it, and have some again.
