What's up with the differences in the barons?

Why do some Baron kits have a faceted front section while others have a smooth round front section?

I have one each of rollerball and fountain in front of me in the same finish purchased at exactly the same time from the same supplier. The roller is faceted while the fountain has a smooth round grip.

Hard to make a matched set when the hardware is different in the same lineup.

That's just the way they are. The Berea ones that is. The roller is faceted and the fountain is round. It didn't bother me any, although I rarely make barons, mainly because I like other variations better.

I've done quite a few barons and I guess I just never noticed that it was an rb vs fp specific thing. I always just wrote it off as different suppliers or different batches as some kits have been known to change a time or two.

Good to know, thanks Dan :)

If you like the Baron (I do), try the Baron II from Timberbits. The rollerball and fountain pen have front sections with 12 facets. Front sections are interchangeable.
