What width skew

I am looking to purchase an oval skew and wondered what width is the most popular. I know it comes down to personal preference but thought I would ask anyway. I have a 1/2 and 1 inch wide flat skew but I have a nasty habit of catching the corner and making a ring groove in the material. I also want to start working with acrylics and from the videos I have watched the oval seems to be the most popular.
Anyway help!!!!!!!

I have found that the larger skew causes less catches due to it's sweet spot being wider and somewhat easier to manipulate.

Take your skew to the grinder and grind off the square corners, it will then slide along the tool rest much more smoothly. I like the 3/4" oval skew,
