What type of wood do you think this is?

I bought a small amount of this wood at Rockler. The salesman didn't know what type of wood it was but thought it was from Tazmania. I probably should have not bought it without knowing the type but the price was very good and I really liked it. So, any ideas on what type it is?

I went back to the store I bought it at and asked again. The store employee told me it was from the "Ti Tree" in Tazmania. I still haven't found anything on the net about this tree but at least I have the name.

I'm not sure about Ti Tree but he could have meant Tea Tree which is native to Australia - it's difficult to tell from the photograph.
