"Ebonite" was originally a trade name for one manufacturer's black ("ebon") vulcanized rubber. Generically, either "vulcanite" or "hard rubber" are correct terms for hard/vulcanized rubber of any color. Pen people will often get upset if you try to explain this, but you asked ...

"Ebonite" is now just a brand name for bowling balls, hard rubber or not, and related paraphernalia.

Further, you will occasionally see references to "BCHR" (black chased hard rubber) and "RHR" (red hard rubber) and similar notations; these are all common materials for early fountain pens. "Ebonite" more often refers to the material of the feed and section of a fountain pen than to its body material.

Google has a page 4? LOL - I swear if I don't find what I'm searching for by the end of page 1, I change my search terms! I agree thats a pretty decent video - couple good tips in there.
