I would like to make own acrylic blanks, but I cannot find "stuff" up here in Canada! I have read about different materials used, but I think it is only available south of the border.

Does anyone know where I can get "stuff" to make acrylic penblanks up here? Is there different types of acrylic "stuff" & dyes to use. What are the differences, if any.

Any & all assistance is appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Tim

You can go to a hobby shop and look for some castin craft, which is a PR. Don't know if you have Micheals stores or Hobby Lobby, but I know if you don't you have some sort of version of that. They'll have the dyes and colors, plus paints work as colors too. There's big differences between PR and Alumilite, which are the two main choices. You can contact alumilite and ask if they ship to you. I won't say what is better, because those are fightin words. A lot of it has to do with who you are, what you are used to, price, ease of use, etc.

Michaels has ridiculous pricing on castin craft. It's just about $40 for 32 fluid oz of it, plus $10 for the hardener. You'd be better to find a friend at a brokerage house or warehouse on the american side of the boarder, and have it shipped there.

Just a few places. I'm planning to buy from the US.
I can buy a gallon for the price of the 32 oz, including shipping.

I'm in Ottawa and I can buy PR at Michael's and Alumilite at a local hobby shop. Neither of these products is limited to south of the border.
