Weight of Pens

This came up some days ago in regards to the El Grande pen. It was mentioned that the pens feels light, and, therefore, cheap.
I had a chance today to weigh some pens, Montblanc Ballpoint and pencil that belong to a colleague.
Here it is:
Montblanc BP: 22 gramm
Montblanc Pencil: 27 gramm
Both made form dark red plastic (or resin as it sounds better) material.
I had one pen, a Berea European Doubletwist made from Kingwood, on hand - this pen is the same size and shape as the Montblancs, it weighed in with just a tad under 40 gramm!

This is quite a weight difference! I have no idea what the price of the MB pens were, but my colleague told me they were both over $150 a piece.

I just weighed my ironwood cigar @ 55.11 grams and my maple burl baron @ 39.67 grams. I must not be asking enough for those []

My Streamline El Grande "Super Lite" weighs only 14 grams for the pen without the cap, I love it! []

WOW! now if we could just sell pens by the pound! I'd turn some really phat suckers....lol

I have a parker Duofold that woudl be lighter than the El Grande I have. and the last Mont Blancs I looked at where $180.

Interesting facts on the weights. Choice of wood has something to do with the difference in weights.
