UV burnout

Does anyone have successful experience in preventing UV loss of color on the more flambouyant woods such as osage orange, canarywood and purpleheart?

A real neat trick I learned with purpleheart is to brush the wood with muriatic acid after the final sanding... I use a foam tipped makeup applicator.. it turns the wood a cranberry red and does not fade... I put one in the window and left it there for 2 weeks and the color remained... makes a very pretty pen... women love it...
Osage is going to fade no matter what you do... I have made a couple of osage longbows and could never get them to keep the color..
Have not worked with canary wood..

What do you use for muratic acid? Something readily available? I'd like to try your tip for purpleheart.

Muriatic acid is muriatic acid.. it is used a lot for swimming pools..

Try using Yellowheart instead of Osage...it will stay yellow.
