I found an old advertising pen that had a very short twist mechanism.
I replaced the lower plastic with a cocobola short. Then I used 2 coax connectors, modified and glue into the 2 halves of this black acacia blank.
An advantage is that there is only one start thread so the blank is aligned every time. Disadvantage is the metal to metal threads but this won't be used much as a pen. This one was more of a challenge because of all the new processes but it was fun!:)

Cool idea .... I like it !!! ... What kind of coax connectors did you use ? The male connector that you find on video equipment that connects to your home video feed ? .. or a bigger kind ?

Looks like a home run to me! Fantastic work. I really enjoy seeing people explore penmaking outside of traditional kits.

Mal, I used ones that are bigger. They have a 5/8-24 thread, used for UHF radio.
It was a matter of drilling out the center to accept a brass tube on the male thread and turning down the knurl on the outer shell to make the OD smaller.
Thanks all for the kind words.
