I drilled a blank today that sorta looked like cherry on the outside. When drilled however the chips were just a little darker than blood. Never saw it before. Can you tell of a good place e to search to identify this stuff?

Sounds like bloodheart--I'm sure there are some books out there to help with ID'ing various wood--I'd look for such a wood book on Amazon.

Or, and this is just a real off the wall idea. You could try the Library, I know, I know. I just threw it out there.
