I have come across some wood from a plum tree and an apple tree locally here in Maine. I am not sure of the type of species of fruit but was curious as to if they would be a good pen turning wood. Any suggestions?

I have turned several applewood pens. The wood can be plain at times but I have had some with very beautiful knots. And the smell when turning can be great at times. Just watch the moisture content and turn when dry enough. Have fun with them!
