Turning Wenge

On another forum I saw a blurb about soaking wenge, but there were no details. Yesterday I had a guitar maker tell me that after turning wenge, if I would soak it in chlorox for about 30 minutes, some of the grain would bleach creating a really cool look.

Should wenge also be soaked before turning?

After, or rather, between turning and sanding. I'd use a profession two part wood bleach instead of chlorox too. And yes, it does look cool.

Marc, never heard of doing that with wenge...got any pics of what it looks like after being bleached?
