Just got back from my friends house in Denim springs and he had a treat waiting for me. One huge stump of red, burled, cypress woodstock. Now my only problem is how to blank this sucker up! Pics will be up shortly.

Pics! Of both the stump and and a chunk polished up. First and last are a wee bit fuzzy close up.

How big is it? Do you have a band saw? I would cut it on the band saw after I had plotted it out on the wood. You could get diagonal and straight cuts. If it is big enough you could get a bowl or two, bottle stoppers, as well as, pen blanks.

The stump's about 1 1/2 feet high, and a yard n' half from farthest points. Sadly it was more or less meant for a table for his gf before they split, so the first 2 inches down are mainly platter material. Sadly, I don't own a bandsaw good enough for this beautiful monstrosity, but I was thinking of renting a woodcraft shop here locally (And maybe some help. Possibly a chapter meet?) But that would probably be out of budget range for me.
