Yesterday we had a Turn for Troops at Woodcraft in Milwaukee. We had a good turn out, got lots of pens done and were busy all day. In general it was a great day.

For those that were unable to attend there was a sight rarely seen by human eyes. Hope your all sitting down because here it comes.

Ed Brown (ed4copies) was actually working on wood. That's right, real wood.

You say "No pictures it didn't happen"? Here's proof.

Good job Ed, it wasn't that painful was it?:biggrin::biggrin:

Good Job

That's a great cause --- you all deserve thanks from those who appreciate seeing our men and women in uniform being remembered.

Someone (I guess me) SHOULD mention the amount of work that Dave does for these "Turn for the troops" events. I have been to a few, and every time, Dave is there to greet me and there when I go home. Usually, we each grab a "blank" and start turning. The blanks are pre-drilled and faced and ready to turn (Dave did that last night or five). Then, as usual yesterday, when the pen was turned and finished, just hand it to Dave who is manning the "assembly press" and putting each pen into its own ziplock for safe keeping.

We should certainly thank WoodCraft for donating the pen kits, but from that point on, it seems Dave manages to make these events happen!!

And he always seems to get a picture of someone ELSE!!

Thanks Dave!! You are a quiet force in helping our men in uniform----SOMEONE noticed!!

Thanks for the kind words Ed but this wouldn't have happened without people like yourself and others that came out on your holiday weekend and did most of the turning. Several members of the Milwaukee Area Woodturners donated their time to turn and help coach first time turners. My grand daughter Wezzer1994 helped to prep the blanks.

Here's a few more Pics.
