I am building a deck, and will have some short pieces of decking left. Anyone turn any trex and is it worth messing with.

I'd give it zero for color appeal, it turns OK but is quite too weak to use for kitless, and the color makes it kind of a waste of money to put on any kit pen. Does shine up nicely without a finish

Makes OK handles and other utilitarian stuff where looks don't mean much though, so it has some value to save. I imagine it is pretty much stain, water, and solvent proof but haven't tested it.

Deck Pen

I made a couple of pens out of the decking, it's boring to look at. However since both Scouts had worked with decking for their Order of the Arrow Ordeal project it brings back memories for them. I still have a couple of pieces, found in the workshop last night. Might try to dress it up a bit with some natural wood and segment it. It's not like a nice acrylic or PR blank, it's different.
Good luck
