I finally figured out how to make the foot end look more like the raw tobacco. This changes the whole look. I think I'll go make more!

That looks great. Just got the ash end looking good. Any pointers or suggestions in how you do it? Inquiring minds would love to know!

Nice. What kind of wood did you use for the body of the cigar? What finish did you use? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for the kind words.
It is still a work in progress as I think I can do better.
For now I'll keep this one close.
I think the wood is a redwood burl and I use CA on all of these.
The finish is done much the same and a pen that gets a high gloss but they are buffed to a matte finish at the end.

Been meaning to get back to this but have not had the time.
Basically it is an insert, as noted by Dan. I used strips of brown paper and stuck wood shavings to both sides with contact cement.
Roll it up and by gosh it looks like the tobacco end.
You will have to experiment on your own and figure out the details.

Thanks Dale. Might give that a try. I have been planning to make one that has a red band around the foot so the ash look didn't seem right. Thanks!

Harry, how are those individual components working out?
Also, what do you do for the nib end? I didn't see those readily available.

My supplier of cigar bands never seems to keep the foot band so I guess I'll need to have a talk with him.
I can usually get his attention better with a freebee!

Very pleased with the components. I bought the nib sections (both FP and RB in both platings) and threaded centerband inserts. Will reorder for sure. Lots of interest in the prototype:) I will post a pic in SOYP today.
