So I saw a pen from Franklin Covey that I like. I thought I'd make something similar. But, you know, I can't find anything. Do I have to use 2 pen kits to make 1 pen?

Here's what I like about the maroon pen in the foreground that I'd like to make.

The diameter of the pen, similar to the Designer NT from PSI.
The length of the top barrel 1.5"
The length of the clip 1.49"
The flat top

So if I start with a Designer NT, where can I find the shorter clip and the flat top?

Or is there another way to approach this project?

Mike...

I make a lot of Elegant American Pens. Very nice pen.

The new pen that I want to make is going to be more like a designer, with a flat top. I am going to start with a designer kit, and a flat top kit, maybe the Tec-7, or maybe the Comfort Pen, which ever has the shorter clip, and see if I can turn it small enough to be like the FP pen.

I'm not sure I'll have time during the week this week to work on it, but a long weekend is coming up. Hopefully then!!! :)

Well, I had a little time this evening, so I went downstairs to play.

I used the Designer NT for the bottom and the Tec-7 for the top. I adjusted the lengths of the blanks accordingly, and voila' out popped my version of the Franklin Covey pen!

What do you think?

Mike...

P.S. The pictures are having a hard time showing how similar in size these 2 pens are...
