strata/chip board pen blank blowout

Has anyone had much experience turning chip board pen blanks? I have only made a few in the past but didn't have a problem with them. They were stabilized first. Blank is cut with the grain. Using a sharp carbide tip tool. I've been turning pens for 5 years so I'm not new to the process.

Basically, I have had 4 in a row just blow out on me. Not sure what's going on.

Any thoughts?

Oriented strand board wants to come apart. The " sawdust" board is worse.

Have not run either through Cactus Juice, but that would help for sure.

5 cps thin CA glue can hold OSB together most of the time. Glue and let setup, turn a little then glue and let set up then repeat many times.
