So since I'm going to start doing more taks ON my lathe (drilling, squaring, etc....) a question comes to mind.

I've not worried about this too much in the past. I've got a rikon mini lathe, multi (not variable) speed. I don't recall the model #. Overall I like it alot, it's been a great lathe. however..... The tailstock has a bit of side to side play in it. Just a teeny bit, but enough that it could affect drilling or sanding. Anyone have any easy tricks for quickly squaring up your tail stock each time you lock it down? Maybe a gadget? Maybe a DIY gadget?

Thanks.

On my 46-460,I put in the dead center and the 60 degree live center, and got them to touch......as long as I twist the tailsock to the left before tightening, then It's dead on.Now that it's something I do every time,I do it automatically without even thinking about it.
