Stopper Holder

Know this has been asked before, I want to try bottle stoppers, I need something to hold stock while I drill it.

Would this work ok, or is something else better?

looks like the same size i use. i got mine from woodcraft though, it was on sale.

How do you drill pen blanks? A drill press and 5/16" drill bit should work just fine. If you round blanks and drill on the lathe with collet chuck, you may need something else, but most any pen vise can handle 2+" stopper blanks. Bottle stoppers do not need to be as accurately drilled as pen blanks. You are only drilling 5/8" deep.

I drill on lathe. It will not hold the material, jaws are to small.

Not sure about the quality of that chuck. Woodcraft has the Nova midi on sale for not much more and it is a top quality chuck.

this is the one i have. i drill all my blanks using this since i don't have a pen vise for my drill press.
