I just ran across a years old Executive pen kit that I didn't know I had. At some point, probably during a hot summer, the refill leaked inside the package. The ink had dried, so I used denatured alcohol to clean it off the tube, and it cut right through it. I also soaked the transmission in the DNA, but it's still stiff. When new, most transmissions I've used have a thin coating of grease on them, so I assume they're lubricated at the factory. Can I use a light machine oil or some such to lubricate the transmission?

Well, the transmission won't extend at all now. Don't know what I did to it. None of the suppliers have the transmissions listed on their websites, so I don't know if I can order one or not. If not, I'll just get another kit. They're not expensive, and the blank I turned for it turned out really nice.

I went ahead and put the pen together. Now I just have to get a transmission.
