You know, the stuff that's on the pen transmissions that makes them slightly tacky to the touch. What is that? After disassembling a pen, I find the cap end of a twist pen (Euro) turns past the transmission's stopping point. What could I put on the transmission to make it "stick" to the inside of the cap half of the pen but still retain removability (for replacing the cartridge)?

Thanks!

The transmission grease isn't the culprit. All twist pens spin past the lock point. If they didn't, you wouldn't be able to remove the cap and replace the cartridge. If you have excess grease on the outside of the transmission you can remove it with a little WD-40.

The stuff is called High Shear Grease. It's the same stuff they put on stereo knobs to get that "expensive" feel. A company called Nye Lubricants sells it.
