I am working on my first Stars and Stripes pen. The instructions state to put the white end of the star toward the brass tube( on the inside ). Will the star turn back to white once I get it turned down to size?

Just a tip......... I've made a few dozen of these and even being real careful with my skew I have managed to knock tips off of a few stars so now, weird as it sounds, I start out with 320 grit sandpaper first, then start turning with my skew. Haven't knocked any little star points off since doing it this way.

I just sand them down. Had a few catch and then shatter and then my came running cause of all the @!#Q@$#^&%&@#!
