I bought a couple of stabilized blanks that I am fiddling with today and am a bit confused.

I generally glue in the tube, square the blank, then seal the end of the blank with CA to give it a little more strength.

Not thinking about it, I did the same to one of the stabilized maple blanks I bought. It absorbed significantly more CA than anything I have worked with other than burl. I thought that the stabilization process should have filled the pores enough that it should not absorb an appreciable amount of CA.

On this particular one, I have had to reapply thin three times, and it is still absorbing more.

As additional information, the outside of the blank definitely looks like it was stabilized. It has that plastic-y coating. It also reeked when I was drilling.
