What does stabilized wood blanks mean? vs non stabilized wood blanks?

Stablizing a blank is where they impermiate a wood blank with a type of resin under pressure. It stablizes the wood and fill cracks and and other imperfections. Some burls this works great on as there is lots of inclusions that otherwise would fly apart on the lathe.

Yes, stabilized wood is more $$ but IMO well worth the cost. Give it a try!

There are ways of doing your own, I have tried it myself with good results, But I also would buy already done.
