Look at my thread from 5/21 for the beginning of this experiment.
It is now 85 plus in Friendswood (SE Houston halfway to Galveston) and my compost bin is a bio hazard. The wood is from a neighbors Drummond Red Maple (Texas cousin to Sugar Maple) and cut in late April. It is now 2 weeks and the fungus in the wood and from the compost is really growing!! I have pictures from both of sides of the cuts. I will go 6 weeks, that seems to be what most "experts" say is needed. At that point I will cut it up and show pictures of the results. And, I will show pictures at 4 weeks.

Do you have a control piece of that same wood set up? Like say something not in compost but outside and one inside in a dry place? (science background always makes me want a control)
