Does anyone have any information or opinion on soldering the tubes into the brass cartarage then powder coating the cartarage. Will the solder melt or degrade from the heat of baking the powder. Possibly I should use Silver Solder?
Your thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated.

I have heard of quite a few people soldering the tubes in. The heat should not hurt is, but I don't do it so I'm not so sure. You may want to Contact Cozee if he doesn't respond here. I'm pretty sure he does that but am unsure if he PC them. But the best way to find out is to just try it.

Yep, I have done lots like that, the heat will not melt the solder. However, make sure you clean the part very good before you coat it so that there is not any traces of resin left.

PS, CA on the other hand will NOT work.

Powder paint flows/cures around 320-400 degrees (farenheit), depending on the powder.
Solder typically melts in the 600-700 degree range, depending on the alloy.
CA glue typically debonds around 200 degrees.

So, order is important:
1) solder,
2) clean,
3) polish,
4) powder-coat, and then
5) glue.

You can omit steps if they don't apply, but don't mix them up.

Eric
