Snakewood Blanks

I have a customer that is rquesting a pencil made out of snakewood. I need a couple blanks. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Keith

Also, practice your patience -- Snakewood is known to crack after it has been turned.

Some folks say you can avoid this if you drill and turn very carefully to avoid heat build up. Others have suggested boiling the wood may help reduce the likelihood of cracking. Your mileage may vary.

Snakewood cracking can be reduced or elminated byr cutting and slow driilling the blanks. Next is to air dry the blanks for thirty days. Use epoxy to glue in the tubes. Cut with sharp tools and dont hog the cuts.
