Have you seen what's left when a snakes sheds it's skin? It's virtually transparent. I don't think it would work very well.

I have to agree with gerry, Snake sheds would also have very little color and they would not be plyable to mount to the pen tube. I have made several of these blanks and skin is the way to go. Good luck!

Depends on the type of epoxy. The kind we use to glue tubes in wouldn't work very well. The kind that is used to coat the thread on fishing rods is actually an epoxy casting resin and would work, but it would be extremely expensive. PR is terribly difficult to cast.
