5 weeks ago I turned a celluloid pen. It still has a odor to the pen blank The blank is from CUSA.

Will time reduce the smell or is the odor a permanent result of turning celluloid ?

thanks in advance.

Bill I'd never had this problem until this past June. I made a Panache from a CSUSA celluloid.(Scarlet and Black) We did a show several days later and when I unpacked this pen the odor was very strong. I put the pen aside and thought I'd email customer service and aks about it. Anyway I forgot about it and just this past weekend happened to think about the pen.....odor's all gone, but I have no clue how long it took!

Bill I made a rollerball from some celuloid from WPP and it took about a month before the smell on the capped pen went away , uncapped it still stinks .
If I leave the cap off now for a few days it's not too bad but if I put the cap back on and wait a few days the smell is back .

If it's anything like resin, I had a car which I used a lot of resin and fiberglass in. It lasted quite a while.

I'd defiantly leave that cap off for a month.
