I have made a grand total of 2 fountain pens.
Both used large drill bits. 10 mm and larger
Is there a small fountain pen kit out there?
I am wondering it the ink cartridge
is the reason all I have seen are large ish
Thanks

I haven't seen any.
Nib sizes start at #5 the section to is 8.5 mm ID and that is about the size of the ink converter some pens use a 8.4 mm section like the jr genteleman but the converter won't fit( i got a trick for that). So you probably wont find a smaller kit that will accept industry standard refills.

10mm is the smallest I've seen in fountain pens - and I've looked pretty extensively. And most FP kits require even larger bits - the selection of 10mm kits seems to be shrinking.

The 'standard international short' cartridge has an OD of about 7mm. I just measured a converter (pump) OD at 8mm, so I think you are correct that the size is controlled by what has to fit inside the body of the pen.
