Hey All

I have some .2mm all the way up to 1.4mm copper plates and I am thinking about making some segmented Pen Blanks with them.

Has anyone tried this or am I just trying to do something impossible on the metal lathe?

Any input would be great!

There are many applications of using metal in segmented blanks. I'm sure there will be many suggestions, I'll offer a few.

- I prefer 2 part epoxy, but have also used CA.
- Be mindful of when you are drilling, to control the heat.
- Use very sharp drill bits.
- When turning, also make sure you have sharp tools. I use both HSS and Carbide depending on "how things are going."
- Sanding metals and light colored or open grain wood often results in metal flakes getting into the pores of the wood.

(Edit: I have no real experience with a metal lathe, so hopefully others will assist with that element).

Experiment and have fun.

If you have not seen it yet, check out the many photos of segmented pens here.

And this is one that I did a few months ago, metal and Trustone.
