Slimline Pencil Difficulty

I'm having trouble with a PSI Slimline Pencil. I'm having difficulty trying to click on the plunger at the top end of the pencil to release the lead. The plunger clicks down just a little but with a lot of force and I can't get any lead to come out.
I know it's just a Slimline but I really like the acrylic barrels that I turned for it.
Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Al,
Just a thought....unscrew the tip, and try turning the piece that holds the lead.
I may not be seated quite right.

Look at your "plunger" is it lined up straight? Had one that was scraping the side of the hole in the top.
