Sierra Tolerance

I'm working on a set of Sierra blanks with LOTS of pieces inlayed. I have about 1/16th inch of the tube left exposed and do not want to cover it if I can trim that much and still have the pen work correctly.

Would I be safe in trimming that much of the tube? Would it be better to go ahead and make some type of oops band and fill the remaining bit?

put the ring on.you have done all the work and now want to stop short.

Take an extra tube and cut it down that 1/16 inch and test it. I believe it will work. I've shortened them to correct chip out.

You can take 1/16" of without impacting functionality of the mechanism.

THanks for the responses. I was hoping to take off this little bit as the pattern would be disrupted by adding anything to cover the end.
