Does anyone know of a 7mm mandrel available in a shorter length?
I now use an adjustable. Problem is if I shorten the rod down inside the collet (say for turning purse pen or keyrings) the knockout bar invariably bends the mandrel rod that protudes from the morse taper.
I like to keep it as short as possible. Thanks OSCAR

Keep thinkin'!!!!

OR, cut a mandrel to the size you want and use it, if you are into production and don't want to loosen the "rod" each time.

1/4x 20 bolts are available in any hardware store.
Cut the head off it and use that for a short mandrel.
When I made the herring bone pen I nneded a couple of pin chucks that were odd sized.
I made them from a bolt and corian.
( I don't think it will put fangar out of business.
The 1/4 28 bolt fit in the M@ adapter sold by Berea

<br />Oscar, just remember, if you cut the mandrel to your desired length, keep the fall off and make a pin chuck for turning 7mm closed ends. [;)]

A 7mm mandrel does not leave much room for a pin[;)]
