sharpening question

I am somewhat new to woodturning and have purchased a Delta Sharpening Center. The directions on how to use this peice of equipment are not very detailed and I don't really want to ruin my tools by not knowing how. Does anyone else have this and how can I improve the quality of sharpening. Or should I just sell it and start over?!!!! Please help.

If you are referring to the $20.00 wet grider Lowes had on sale recently,it's good or touch ups,but I find it slow for a "main" grinder.
I keep a small diamond stone with 2 grits(also from Lowes)red and yellow near the lathe.
I don't need to use the grinder as often.
I also use a belt sander.

The Delta is good for planer blades (manual), knives, and could be used for your scrapers. to get the best grind for your gouges, you need a straighter surface. When you consider the arc of the (guess) 3" wheel vs an 8" wheel you can see what I mean. The larger wheel provides a better grind for rubbing the bevel while cutting.

I have the one that has both the vertical dry stone and the 1000 grit horizontal wet stone.
