So having just moved and no longer having access to a fancy sharpening setup, I'm in desperate need of someway to sharpen my tools. I however do not have the money currently for a grinder or wolverines or badgers or......etc....... I've seen CSUSA, Woodcraft, rockler and others all have sharpening stones...... other than having to exert actual elbow grease to sharpen my tools, are there any reasons why a good manual sharpening kit wouldn't work for the time being?

Thanks.

Actually I could afford that chiselmate just fine and it looks like it would work great. I just can't afford 50+ for a grinder + 80+ for a wolverine etc......

I'm just a beginner so my input may not be of value but I use a large 2 sided flat stone and sharpen by hand. So far so good. The gouges are a bit of a challenge but I take it slow and seem to get a pretty sharp edge.
