Sharpening

Someone showed me along time ago to how to put an edge on my turning tools with a disk sander and 220 sanding paper. Am I wrong in sharpening them this way? It seems to work extremely well but maybe I just have never turned with a really sharp tool. Comments?

Whatever works for you! There are many ways to do the same thing. Half the battle is figuring out which way works for you.

I bought the jigs and used them, then I saw a video by Richard Raffan where he simply sharpens by hand on a low speed grinder... now I do it his way and don't have to go through all the setup...works great for me...
So whatever works for you...sharp is sharp...!
