Has anyone done, seen or heard of a blank probably a polyester resin blank, with tiny sea shells cast in it. I have a request for one but have no idea where to start looking for ideas, or if it will even work. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks

Hi Rudy, I just sent Exoticblanks.com 8 mother of pearl sierra blanks cast in polyresin that they should have listed in the next week or so. They were made from crushed shells. I dont know if full small shells would work with the shallow depth of the completed pen body. They might not be flat enough and break through the resin surface. Heres what my pen blanks look like finished.

I have some small shells Ive been wanting to try. I would probably have to mix crushed shells and the ends where it gets thin with whole shells in the middle of the blank. I'll see if I can find some time to give it a try for you.

I am currently casing sea shells in PR. It is quite difficult to cut. I'll try to photograph both the turned pen and the raw blank tonight.
