Recently, and quite by accident, I stumbled upon a blank from Rockler (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=10652). I think it was the one called "applejack." When my wife, an OSU grad, saw the finished pen, she immediatly commandeered it, saying something like "oh, you made an Ohio State pen." This got me thinking about other school colors. Would anyone else care to share a blank or wood combo that approximates school colors?

Dymondwood is available in quite a few different colors which approximate some school colors. There are also many acrylics, celluloids, and polyester resins which look like certain scholl colors.

I once made the mistake of pushing blue and gold as WVU colors, then the lady said 'I'm from Michigan'. So now, unless the customer specifically mentions a school, I let them decide which school the colors represent.

Who would want a WVU pen?[xx(]

Personally, I would go for resin or acrylic in school colors as they are a bit more vivid. Dymondwood has different looks depending on the finish used. (found that out quick)

Thanks for the replies. mrcook, you make a good point, which will be well taken: sometimes its best to let the customer see what they want to see. As the old saying goes, "perception is reality."

"Quote" I am looking for Purple and Gold LSU colors...

A combination of these two colors sell well for me for the LSU fans.

I have made some with the top and bottom different colors, to get the colors you want. This is one way to get the school colors if you can not find the blanks or ask one of the home brew people to cast you some in your colors. Jeff in Indiana is good at this.
