Scallops

kaspar has inspired me to push my self to become a more creative and better pen maker, so I am trying scallops now. I have only been turning about 5 months so I haven't even come close to figuring things out.. So excuse any ignorance. So here is the deal. I got two scallops that was pretty straight forward, what I can seem to get is nesting the scallops. I get the scallops cut and as I start turning every thing start looking good and then as I get close I see that one or more of the nested scallops has disappeard. I am cutting the angles at 30 degrees and I thought I was doing everything correctly. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be. If it helps I can post pictures of the two blanks that I tried tonight.

Nevermind. I figured it out. Just had to sit and look at it a little longer.
