This is our first Pen where we did it all from tree to pen. We spotted a nice branch burl on an oak tree and went and asked our neighbor if he minded if we removed it. He didn't care at all as he had twenty more acres of trees. So we walked through the whole process of cutting the burl, microwave drying etc. It is a more impressive grain pattern than my photography skills show.

I do appreciate a little more the price I pay for a nicely dried burl blank.

I am in the process of buying a large plot of land which has a lot of trees on it. One of the first things that I am going to do once closing is done, is get on the ATV and ride around looking to see if any of the trees have burls on them.

WHo knows, I might find a few.
