It's a nice light colored wood. Not real exciting by itself in something as small as a pen, but would work for segmenting or as a base for some other form of embellishment.

I don't care for how it looks when it spalts, so I generally turn it green. It's a good wood to learn to do hollow forms.

Try some. You might like it.
