My shop is an unheated garage. Does anyone know if rollerball refills are negatively affected by sub freezing temps? If so, I need to store my kits indoors.
If I were guessing...which I am...I would expect that there is an anti-freeze component to the inks which would prevent problems other than perhaps a slight thickening of the ink. Why don't you email Bic, Papermate or Sanford and see what they have to say??
As for testing, why not stick one in your freezer over night and see what happens??[][]
I pull every cartridge from every kit and store them in my heated assembly area. My kit storage area is unheated and can be subfreezing this time of year. Having found several pens destroyed by winter temps over the years, I just don't feel like risking any cartridges. Perhaps only one or two might fail but it makes quite a mess when one does.
