reparing constant pen

I put the Texas flag pen together wrong. I put the star over the red stripe instead of stardling the res/white stripes. Do you see any reason I can't recut the pen at the blue band (bandsaw), re-square the pieces and glue them back together? I figure it would shorten the pen about 1/16" from the top side. There's quit a bit of wood to hold the pieces together.

Constant I would but you already sent me another 1 that I screwed up and you replaced. As generous as your offer is I'm not going to take advantage of you. Thank you for the offer but I'm going to try it my way. If it doesn't work I will buy another 1. Your generosity only needs to go so far.
