Refill Tip Reveal?

What is the proper/acceptable amount of reveal for a ballpoint refill tip when advanced through the pen nib section?
I like mine to have no more than 1/16" of reveal when advanced.

I agree with Mike. However, sometimes you get a 'thick' nib like the one you are showing, in which case you have it spot on, as extending it to make the angles flush would make it stick out too far. I always check out your stuff and I don't recall you getting it wrong yet...:biggrin:

Not sure if `proper` is the correct term , but what looks best to me is about 3/64 , certainly no more than 1/16 . May vary a bit between Cross and Parker type refills . It has to be long enough to ensure that the nib doesn`t contact the paper if the pen is held at a shallow angle .
